ace your Back to school skincare routine

Fall is approaching...

... which means so is back-to-school season. And whether you are headed back for another semester of hitting the books (or grading tests) or you’ve been out of school for a while, the changing season is a perfect time to set new skincare intentions. Here are some helpful tips for getting your skin back into shape after a long, (hopefully) relaxing summer.

Rule 1 🧼

Never skip a cleanse. Late nights spent studying or binging your favorite TV show can make washing your face before bed seem like the most difficult task you do all day—but that little bit of extra effort will totally pay off. Take two minutes to clear away the makeup, sweat, and debris that has built up on your face throughout the day before hitting the pillow. Not only will it help to keep your pores clear, you’ll wake up feeling so much better. Then, just do a quick cleanse in the morning to start the day fresh.

Rule 2 💦

Don’t forget to sweat. Sure, sweat can clog up your skin and make you break out if you don’t wash it away. But getting your heart pumping has fantastic skincare benefits. Not only does it increase blood flow to your skin, exercise releases endorphins which help reduce stress—one of the major causes of breakouts and dull looking skin. So be sure to hit the gym regularly for a natural glow.

Rule 3 ⏰

Set a sleep schedule. Nighttime is when your skin does all its heavy duty repair work, so getting a solid seven to eight hours of sleep every night is essential if you want a healthy, glowing complexion. While back-to-school season can lead to late nights, it’s best to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day (even on weekends) to help your body fall asleep and wake up more easily.

Rule 4 📱

De-germ your gadgets. Let’s be honest: you bring your phone everywhere (the bathroom, the gym, to bed…). And while you do a great job with washing your hands, any germs your phone or other gadgets come into contact with will surely transfer back onto your skin. So be sure to sanitize them thoroughly and often. Your skin will thank you.

Rule 5 🧴

Pack on the sun protection. Summer may be over, but the sun never takes a break! Topping off your morning skincare routine with sunscreen and reapplying throughout the day will help keep your skin healthy and safe all year round.

Feed your skin. It’s easy to slip into unhealthy snacking when life gets more busy and stressful.
